My Dear Fellow Americans,

As your future Congressman, I pledge to carry your voice to Washington, every day, and make it heard. As an entrepreneur, husband, and father of four, I certainly know how to get results for The Space Coast of Florida. That means more jobs and innovation for our district and for all of America. It means encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit that makes America the greatest economic engine in the history of the world. It means saying yes to The Space Coast, which through neglect has lost nearly everything but its spirit of exploration. It means universal health care, and good education, and a government that encourages small businesses and innovation. It means getting the most for the Space Coast, which through neglect has lost nearly everything but its spirit of exploration.

A vibrant economy depends on smart children. To that end, we must build an education system second to none, so American students have the highest math, science and reading scores in the world. That means schools that reward good teachers, parents who only have to work one job to support their families, and a first class university system that’s accessible to everyone. And we are nothing without our health. That’s why I’ll fight to maintain The Patient Protection Affordable Care Act, so we guarantee access to good doctors and hospitals for all Americans. Critics of the PPACA seem to want Americans to go bankrupt and suffer when they get sick, all so big health care can fill its coffers. This just does not serve the common good of our citizens. Let’s move forward on health care, now.

Likewise, for the health of the planet – it’s our moral imperative to change our outdated habits so that future generations can live well. I believe that we are entering an exciting new stage in our national economy, where we’ll grow our businesses by making them more sustainable. Clean, renewable energy plays a huge role, as do tax breaks, to encourage sustainable energy use and the innovative research needed to move clean energy forward. I know that change is possible. For instance, I drive a Ford C-max Energi hybrid car, which gives me 70 miles per gallon of gas. That car came from innovative thinking made in America. And I’d like to see such useful creativity become a hallmark of District 8.

Let’s turn The Space Coast into the Silicone Valley of the South, with exciting new companies bringing real solutions – and jobs — for America’s future. The abandoned facilities of the Space Coast and the rich talent pool that fueled it offer a huge untapped economic opportunity for District 8. Given the explosion in telecommunications and the expected implementation of global Wi-Fi, I predict that District 8 will be launching one satellite a week in five years, and one every single day in the next decade. Our facilities and talent will also draw energy innovators and technology startups as our nation leads the way in the new economy. Click on #RealSolutions and see dozens of examples of amazing innovation happening right now in our backyard. These makers and doers are the heart of America. Let’s make it possible for many more to join them here on The Space Coast.

Of course, none of this will ensure a strong, independent America unless we have a modern, disciplined military with the best tools for defending our principals here and around the world. I’m ashamed to say that America has a recent history of double talk when it comes to supporting our troops. Instead of hiding behind rhetoric, we need to honor those in District 8 and elsewhere who have given their lives for our defense, by giving our soldiers as much support when they are off the battlefield as we do when they are on it. That includes making the Veterans Administration more accountable, and also providing good jobs for returning heroes on The Space Coast and elsewhere.

And for those who have already served, who have spent their lives working hard and paying taxes, I say, it’s our turn to serve you! You are the source of our freedom. You deserve every penny you put into retirement, and I’ll fight to the last minute to protect social security, Medicare and other programs for our senior citizens.

My loyalty is to the people of District 8, and their voice will inspire me to find real solutions for real issues. I’m not in this simply for a long-term job, unlike some congressmen. I’m in it to make a change, to improve lives and to bring the voice of the people of District 8 back to our nation’s Capitol. You want problems solved, not partisan fighting. You want America to hear District 8. Let’s clear out the country club mentality that pervades congress, and fill it with vigor and innovative ideas, from young and old, men and women, immigrants and native born. Let’s put The People back in The House of Representatives once again.
